June 2011 Gemini New Moon/Partial Solar Eclipse
June 2011 Gemini New Moon/Partial Solar Eclipse By Anna Chapman

“Speaking with kindness creates confidence, thinking with kindness creates profoundness, giving with kindness creates love.” —Lao Tzu
Grace is simply being and being simple and within that, love flows forth ceaselessly embracing all of us in a tidal wave of bliss. We may be drowned with intensity or swim, like a dolphin, immersing our selves in a pool of divine, liquid light.
During the few days of this New Moon we have the extraordinary opportunity to stretch our selves to experience the limits of our personality/soul regions before realizing the two merged and the peace of unity. Gemini, in which this New Moon occurs, is ruled by Mercury on an exoteric level where the mind seeks to analyze to expand. On an esoteric level the Twins are ruled by Venus who desires unity/merging in order to expand.
The reason I speak about the esoteric or spiritual level of the sign Gemini is based on the New Moon’s position at 11 degrees. The master numbers—11, 22, 33, 44—indicate an energetic experience that relates to a higher level of expression. The master number 11 is the recognition that we are all one as such it reflects the spiritual nature of the sign Gemini; that being unity not separation. The Hebrew name for Gemini is Thaumin which means united.
To follow our investigation of the explicit meaning of this New Moon we can go further to examine the position of Uranus in this chart. Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury and may provide a clue as to how we move into an elevated consciousness. The Sabian Symbol for this degree is helpful and would intimate that in order for an individual to identify with the greater whole, the individual must first recognize them selves as complete.** Uranus is in square to Pluto retrograde (not exact but close enough) and suggests that we are getting assistance from the dynamic destroyer that would tear down so that new structures can be built. Oh yes, in Capricorn that is a certainty! New structures of the individual mind that release the refreshing air of truth into the brain thus waking us up into, first the hilarity of the illusion that was and then the euphoric state of bliss instated by the very clear message that ‘I AM’.
If you walk around for three days every once in a while stating—I Am that—not the body not the mind but that, I Am, your world will turn around 180 degrees and you will have created an entirely new perspective for your self. (Three days may not be realistic for everyone and yet one day might be sufficient for some. It depends on the level of honesty you share with your self.)
Gemini and the New Moon in this sign, as you can see, encourages a profound degree of shift if we attune our selves to the magical communication the Twins offer on June 1st or on the other hand, as long as we surrender to what is for our highest good at this time we can’t go wrong. Tune into Venus as it transits at 20 degrees Taurus (where that lands in your own chart) for a deeper look at the potential for merging the personality/soul. Remember, one thing the sign Taurus relates to is a secure sense of self and with Venus in the sign she rules, here is an opportunity to love thyself as Divine. Here is the potential for knowing the self as complete. Knowing the self as complete is akin to Mula Bandha in Hatha Yoga where one suddenly discovers that they are operating from a new center—a much greater source of power and strength.
Also, Venus is being followed (within 4 degrees) by Mars. Now Mars has the ability to create the kind of conflict or energy that moves one to act. In this case the action will be towards a more unified platform from which to engage in future planetary activity; that can be on an individual level or on a grander scale. To get a sense of what this grander picture is, it is interesting to note two more things about this New Moon—the first is its conjunction with the fixed star Aldebaran. Now Aldebaran is at 9 degrees Gemini and the New Moon is at 11 degrees. One degree is the accepted separation for fixed star analysis but in this case Aldebaran is one of the four royal stars and therefore is considered to have a wider base of influence.
Aldebaran was visible at the vernal equinox—new beginnings. It is the brightest star in the constellation Taurus and is the eye of the Bull—the eye of revelation, Buddha’s star, the star of illumination are all references to the eastern royal star. Eloquence, integrity and honors are among the words describing this star. Fortunate by nature, Aldebaran conjunct this New Moon, bodes well for success in reaching greater individual awareness that of course greatly affects the whole.
The Sabian Symbol which describes this New Moon is “liberation from ghosts of the past”—really self explanatory. The fact that Saturn at 10 degrees Libra and soon to go direct (June 16th), trines this Sun/Moon conjunction indicates an added impetus to dissolve those old patterns that limit us—our abilities to communicate with both halves of the human, physical dynamic and then of course with those around us. Focus on home first. A great exercise to discover how you relate to your mortal halves is to ask one side of your body to communicate with the other. This can be done with guided imagery and creating a scenario where each side invites the other along on an excursion of some sort.
As Saturn grinds to an apparent halt before it begins its journey forward (it will back up only 6 minutes in the next 15 days), it feels as though it creates an intense need to resolve issues that have long been causing impediments to the evolutionary process. We are in the final stages of self examination in this go round and many of us want to leave no stone unturned in our quest to rout out illusive inconsistencies that foster delusive thinking.
This New Moon feels like an event already jam packed with exciting possibility and yet there is one more aspect in the chart for June 1st that deserves mention and that is the exact square of the asteroid Ceres/Demetre to the nodal axis. Ceres/Demetre in mythology is the ancient goddess of agriculture, of that which sustains us. This she took away from us, as story has it, due to grief when her daughter Persephone/Proserpina was abducted into the Underworld by Hades. At this New Moon this asteroid is at 23 degrees of Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac where we dissolve into all that is, where the unconditional love of the mother provides us with the ability to absolutely trust in the infinite, eternal nature of love.
Further, 23 or five is the number of human creation. In the manifestations of the deity five is the ‘world of action’ and according to gematria (a system of assigning numerical value to a word or phrase, in the belief that words or phrases with identical numerical values bear some relation to each other, or bear some relation to the number itself) Grace=the number five. In essence this square implies the greater influence of active grace.
Keeping in mind that the south node is where we have been and the north node is where we are going and whatever squares that, shows us how we get from one to the other, or how we reconcile the opposites, a possible description of this aspect might be, trusting in the cosmic/universal mother within our selves allows us to heal the wounds of loss so that we might embrace what we have always been and could never lose. As everything, how can we possibly ever lose anything? Dare to be bigger (north node in Sagittarius) yet simple with your intent for this New Moon and what you simply wish to be. We have had plenty of experience gathering information (south node in Gemini) to understand that that is helpful but what we really seek is, always has been with us.

2011 Scorpio Full Wesak Moon
May 2011 Scorpio Full WESAK Moon By Anna Chapman
May 17, 2011 7:09 a.m. EDT /4:09 a.m. PDT/ 12:09pm GT 26 Scorpio 13
This Full Moon is not for the faint of heart nor the weak minded. It is the *Wesak Full Moon and the most powerful Full Moon of the year. The Sun travels through Taurus the sign in which the moon is exalted. Taurus is ruled by Venus, the spiritual ruler of the Earth. In the east Venus is Maya, mother of Buddha, in the west, Quetzalcoatl who brought enlightenment to the Mayans. On the one hand we are guided by our five senses into a deeper connection with the Earth (and all of her inhabitants), feeling the physicality of this earthly experience with great appreciation—what it means to be human.
On the other hand with the moon in Scorpio this tactile initiation into more of the physical self is a journey into the crevasses and corners where lie some of our most potent fears. They will be stirred and perhaps shockingly projected in front of you for your wise scrutiny, ultimately to release and transform negative patterns of behavior that have hidden in the darkness for too long. As Scorpio is ruled by Mars/Pluto, there will be no where to hide so best to choose a path of least resistance, surrender for your highest good and leap into the void wholeheartedly, laughing in the face of fear or apparent danger.
As we transition further into the Photon Belt and edge closer toward the Galactic Equator and source, the energy available to us for transformation is increasing. We do not have to labor, suffer or work at ‘it’ any longer. All that is required of us is surrender. And with an average amount of curiosity toward the mystery of who we are, everything is possible. So, throw caution to the wind. Explore with confidence and assertive wisdom all that lies between the conscious self and the ‘I am’. As the lunar cycle is a wave wherein we reach fruition during the Full Moon, rejoice in the splendor of being, reach into your soul and discover what your greatest desire is and embrace that. During this time when there is a phenomenal capacity for healing body, mind and soul be sure to open to the extent you can handle at this time and let go! Trust and fall backwards into the void.
Relationships are an area where we most need to open up and trust. At this Full Moon with Mars and Venus opposing each other with Pluto as chaperone, it would behoove us to examine our behavior with those we are closest too and radically reduce those issues that create conflict. Imagine that all of your buttons are on a big old coat. When you remove that coat—no more buttons. And it is that simple if you intend for it to be. What happens though, the little child who did not get what it wanted is determined to get what it wants and refuses to let go. Inform the child that when it lets go is when it gets what it wants; all the love and nurturing that apparently did not happen while growing up. This is no longer the time to delude our selves with victim mentality. It is rather, a time to decide to take responsibility for being here and realizing the significance of the self as God.
I always like to notice the position of the black moon Lilith whenever analyzing a chart as this point has profound meaning to us in terms of our spiritual evolution. It represents where we are the empowered, divine self and how we are most likely to express that or repress that. During this Full Moon the black moon is at 23 degrees Aries. In the Sabian symbols book by Dane Rudyar, this degree is spoken of as “openness to the influx of spiritual energies. Physical fruition is shown operating at more subtle and spiritual levels…enabling this consciousness to extend the scope of its awareness and creative expression.” The black moon is inconjunct the moon and as such demands of us readjustment; readjustment of our deep emotional beliefs that create one set of behavioral patterns (moon in Scorpio) in favor of a connection with the primal aspect or inherent aspect of self that stands beyond belief (black moon Lilith). Often we repress our power or give it away based upon emotional needs that strongly define our sense of who we are that is not necessarily awareness or creative expression.
Who we think we are is based upon conditioning that is thousands of years old and is NOT who we are anymore than a fungus growing on a tree root is the tree.
“It concerns the fact that certain species of trees do not regularly feed in the soil, but that they are everywhere in their whole root system in symbiosis with a fungus mycelium that serves them like a foster-mother and takes charge for the whole feeding of the tree from the soil… This fungal coat covers the root completely and covers also the entire growing point. It grows as one with the root’s tip and behaves in every respect like an organically linked, peripheral tissue belonging to the root.” –B. FRANK, 1885
Black moon Lilith semi-sextiling the sun and aspecting the nodal axis exactly, means we experience the conscious self drawing from its inherent source of wisdom to feed the growth of awareness leading to expression of the true self. The black moon sextiles the south node where we have been gathering information and learning in order to discover the brilliance of the north node and where we are going—to the place of exclaiming, “I know”. What is it that I know? That I know nothing and everything!
This is apt to be a Full Moon where the physical self indulges the desire nature ‘for its highest good’. Don’t question your motivations or shy away from what your intuition is suggesting you do. Trust your self and know that what it is ultimately will be something that serves you well along this journey of self discovery. Sometimes what we fear most is that which we require as the vehicle to move us from a very stuck place. The stuck place is merely a resting point for the body/mind as it works through the illusion of actually being that body/mind. I am not the body. I am not the mind. Scorpio understands the cycle that is humanity and therefore knows the secret of our existence here and wants to secret that information away lest it be more intense than most people can handle. Taurus wants to see it, hear it, feel it, smell it, express it and so no stone lies unturned during this *Wesak Full Moon.
(Locally the Full Moon has strong effect in the hour following Sunset when the Moon is rising and at local Midnight when the Moon is directly overhead.)
*According to metaphysical tradition, the Buddha was born, attained enlightenment, and left Earthly incarnation under the Full Moon of Taurus. And the Buddha returns at this time each year to bring new light to the world. Spiritual leaders gather in Wesak Valley, a mythic place high in the Himalayas. Here initiates led by the Christ arrange themselves into a great pentagram (the Venusian emblem of world soul) while the Buddha hovers over those gathered radiating light. This cosmic alignment occurs during the eight minutes centered on the moment of the Wesak full moon. – The Masters and the Path – Geoffrey Hodson 82

Gorgeous: Get the Glow from Beta-Carotene
Beta-carotene should be your new best friend this spring. Why, you ask?
It serves as a precursor that converts our foods into vitamin A, an essential vitamin that is not only good for a healthy eyes but also good for the skin. It stimulates the…

5 tips from my favorite green beauty blogger, Charmaine Leah to keep your skin beautiful, healthy, and toxic-free while in the sun this summer! If you like these tips check out Charmaine on her website or follow her on twitter!
1. Use a Cream-based Sunscreen with SPF 30
Avoid sprays and powders which may not be safe to breathe. Choose cream sunscreen instead and make sure the SPF is 30 or higher.2. Read the Ingredients
Avoid sunscreens that contain oxybenzone, it’s a synthetic estrogen that has been linked to allergies, hormone disruption, and low birth weight in baby girls. Instead look for sunscreens that contains zinc, titanium dioxide, avobenzone or Mexoryl SX. These ingredients protect skin from harmful UVA radiation, with little of it penetrating into the body.3. Avoid Sunscreen with Vitamin A
Eating foods rich in vitamin A is great for your skin, but new FDA data shows that tumors and lesions may develop sooner on skin coated with creams containing vitamin A when exposed to direct sunlight. Vitamin A, may be listed as “retinyl palmitate” or “retionol” on sunscreen labels.4. Get Lost of Vitamin D
Vitamin D is very important – it strengthens bones, our immune system, and reduces the risk of various cancers. While the main source of vitamin D is sunlight – experts disagree on if it’s safe to get it from the sun. The American Medical Association recommends 10 minutes of direct sun without sunscreen several times a week to absorb the required amount of Vitamin D. However, the American Academy of Dermatology says that “there is no scientifically validated, safe threshold level of UV exposure from the sun that allows for maximal vitamin D synthesis without increasing skin cancer risk”.Either way you can get adequate amounts from a healthy diet that includes foods naturally rich in vitamin D: dairy products, fish, fortified milk, cereals, and vitamin D supplements.
5. Avoid Tanning Beds
Ultraviolet light from the sun and tanning beds dramatically increase the risk of Melanoma, which is the most deadly form of skin cancer. This type of light can also increase skin aging, wrinkling, and cause cell damage. So what’s the safety sunscreen? The Environmental Working Group releases each year, a report of the safest, least toxic, and most effective sunscreen products available to consumers.
